Motorsport legend Sir Jack Brabham’s Gold Coast penthouse sells

A GOLD Coast penthouse once owned by motorsport legend Sir Jack Brabham has sold for a multimillion-dollar figure.

The mammoth 728 sqm two-storey residence sold to a Gold Coast family who were upgrading.

Agent Lucy Cole of Lucy Cole Prestige Properties said the three-bedroom, four-bathroom penthouse, in the Bayview Tower building at Runaway Bay was a dream come true for the buyers.

She did not confirm the sale price but said the property had been on the market for $3.9 million.

Ms Cole said the buyers are an entrepreneurial family who loved the apartment and the facilities in the building.

“With its private rooftop pool and uninterrupted views of the ocean, the city and the hinterland, this is a property that is sure to impress all of their family and friends,’’ she said.

Sir Jack bought the penthouse after winning the Formula One championship three times between 1959 and 1966 and running his two-time World Manufacturers Championship winning team.

Sir Jack died on the Gold Coast in May 2014, aged 88.

Ms Cole said the apartment had a vast open plan living area, ceiling heights of 3m and a wall of windows that ran the length of the apartment to take full advantage of the north-east facing views over the Broadwater to the ocean.

“As of result of the design and the subsequent renovations, the home is a light-filled delight, with multiple living rooms and entertaining areas on both levels of the apartment,’’ she said.

“However, it is the rooftop swimming pool and barbecue area that is the envy of visitors the penthouse.

“This entertainment area provides the perfect spot to enjoy sunrises or sunsets all year round, either by yourself or with 20 of your friends. It really is a special place.’’

Ms Cole said the three oversized grand bedrooms were split across the two levels, providing plenty of personal space for guests.

“The master suite faces the ocean, allowing you to wake up with beautiful sunrises over the ocean,’’ she said.

“The master bedroom has a huge marble ensuite with his-and-hers vanities and includes a spa bath with some of the best views on the Coast.”
